Euro-City Group is delighted to announce that we have just been awarded the groundworks package for the new Student Accommodation Blocks at Magna Carta Park, Egham, Middlesex for Graham Construction Ltd. The groundworks package is worth £3 million to Euro City Group and runs through until May 2018.
In the final scheme, the project will provide 189 Studio apartments and 299 cluster bedrooms. During the construction period, Euro City Group will remove 10,000m3 of soil from site, pour 3000m3 of concrete and install 130tn of steel reinforcement.
Additionally we will install 2 miles of drainage, 111 Manholes, 6500m2 of hard landscaping / paving, 4000m2 of soft landscaping and an attenuation tank that will be longer than an Olympic Swimming Pool.
An attenuation tank for anyone interested is: a below ground plastic structure that will either hold or disperse excess storm water (from gutters etc) back into the ground without over filling the sewers. It is a clean way of letting rain water soak back into the ground. Its quite a clever thing, however given the size of this project the its definitely not a job for a shovel and bucket!
